Abstract

A project is a series of works with specific objectives that must be completed within a certain period of time, requiring intensive management. Poor management can cause material, time, and energy losses and damage credibility. Efficient material selection is very important, especially in construction. In formwork work, material and tool efficiency are very important. Wooden formwork can be moved and reused, but waste material is a big problem, especially in large-scale projects. Aluminum formwork is more economical, lighter, and can save labor costs by 20-30%. Although the initial cost is higher, aluminum formwork is more economical in the long term because it can be used up to 120-250 times. This research will be conducted on the workshop building project of the Department of Metallurgical Material Engineering, ITS Surabaya, to analyze the benefits and efficiency of replacing conventional formwork with aluminum formwork. With a typical floor, this project is very suitable for using aluminum formwork. Based on the results of the analysis obtained, the estimated time with the conventional formwork method is 490 days, with an estimated cost of Rp. 11,994,008,769.12, while the estimated time with the aluminum formwork method is 327 days. With an estimated cost of Rp. 12,223,948,019, conventional formwork is cheaper, but aluminum formwork is faster
